I was wondering? I want to start selling cakes/cupcakes/candles from my parents house?

Ok well I have been baking/cooking since I was 10 I have sold a few cakes/cupcakes to family and friend in the last year and loved doing it but I don’t know if I am really allowed to sell food from my house which I mean I am a HS student and I do online schooling so I mean I have a lot of time on my hands which my school is the type if I have a job and get a bad grade they can fire me bcuz of it which is BS…but I don’t want to crank out 50 cakes a week I think it will only be every now and then like for a friends wedding she wants me to do her cakes and I said yes but what if something happens like sum1 snitched on me and gets me in trouble for helping her out I buy my own products I get free eggs and I know how to bake perfect,I also have 10 cake/cupcake kits which I love art and put that in frosting like I would with a marker so I am wondering if anything I would need just so I don’t get in trouble with the law (I know a few people in town that have small home based companys and don’t have any license but don’t crank out the cakes and don’t make much money maybe 100-200 a month but that goes back in and pays for their next cake order)
I want to someday make a buisness out of this but I don’t want to go out and blow money on some dumb license that u pay out the butt for then end up never useing it….thanks everyone…for ur help..

You’d have to be licensed by your local health department to make food at home and sell it, and there are tons of rules to follow. Check with the health dept for more info

I think you meant Bakewares Best. I bought a starter kit for house parties for $150.00 my first party sold 600.00. my profit was $550.00 because you get a $150.00 manufacturers credit on your first order, thus making the starter kit free.

Just make sure you check with your city about licenses. Better to pay for a license than a fine. A lot of cities are cracking down on everything these days because of the economy.
